Vice President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Ambassador Dr. Emmanuel Nchimbi, has visited and inspected the progress of the construction of Arusha Stadium, which will be used during the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON 2027). The stadium is currently under construction in Arusha City.

The Vice President commended the progress made on the project, saying it was encouraging to see that the commitment made by the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, to enable Tanzania to host the tournament was being fully implemented. He also thanked the President for continuing to allocate funds to ensure the stadium is completed on schedule.

He further expressed his appreciation to the Ministry of Information, Culture, Arts and Sports, the Arusha Regional Administration, the contractors, and the consulting engineers for their dedication and excellent work on the project.
The Vice President urged leaders from both the Ministry and the Arusha Regional Administration to ensure the timely implementation of President Samia Suluhu Hassan’s directive that all roads leading to the stadium be completed on time.
Earlier that day, the Arusha Regional Commissioner, Amos Makalla, briefed the Vice President on the project’s progress, stating that construction had reached 88 percent completion and is expected to be finalized by the end of August 2026.
Once completed, Arusha Stadium is expected to serve not only as a world class sports venue but also as a major tourist attraction, featuring architectural elements inspired by Mount Kilimanjaro, Tanzanite gemstones, and the National Flag of Tanzania
