Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) has introduced changes to its secretariat, appointing new leaders to key positions as it begins preparations for internal elections and those of its affiliated organisations scheduled for 2027.
The changes were announced in Zanzibar on Wednesday by CCM National Executive Committee
(NEC) Secretary for Ideology, Propaganda and Training Kenani Kihongosi after NEC, Secretariat and Central Committee meetings.
Former Tabora Regional Commissioner Agrey Mwanri has been appointed Deputy Secretary-General of CCM
Mainland, replacing John Mongela, while Abdi Mahmoud Abdi becomes Deputy Secretary-General of CCM Zanzibar.
The party also appointed Tabora Regional Commissioner Paul Chacha to head the Organisation Department, replacing Issa Usigavu, and Jamal Kassim as head of the Economic Department.
Mr Kihongosi said the NEC had approved a timetable and guidelines for the 2027 internal elections, which he said would be conducted democratically and peacefully.
The meeting also approved CCM’s 2026 Gender and Inclusion Policy, aimed at increasing participation of women, young people and people with disabilities in leadership and development.
